OUR CHURCH

Roe's Chapel United Methodist Church is one of the oldest black churches organized in Southwest, GA.  The church was organized in 1867, just two years after President Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation.  The church was founded by a group of inspired worshipers.    After conducting services for a brief season in the home of founding members, the church was eventually housed at its current location on Hwy 219, with its door step being just a few feet from the highway.
